The very beginning

The sector of Ahuano in the Province of Napo was not a common place for travelers due to the lack of roads, or the easy connectivity that we find today. At the very beginning it was an adventure to reach our Ecolodge, spend hours on foot, regardless the copious rain and thunder added to the huge vegetation covering the road. While exploring these wonders we discovered a charming and magical place inhabited by wildlife : monkeys jumping from tree to tree, tropical birds forraging and lots of amphibians and reptiles surrounding this beautiful land called GAIA. Adittionaly, like a divine gift , an unparallel view of the Napo River, the largest and most important tributary of the Amazon River.

The Discovery

We discovered that life is born here, a place to meditate and connect with the essential ‘Nature’, a true sanctuary for those who want to experience what Mother Nature offers: relaxation, harmony and adventure in a unique and natural settlement. Once on the spot many ideas came up, what about if we share this with all people around the world?. Another key point was how to show a different way to know the Amazon Rainforest, its people and culture? This was the time when Gaia Eco Lodge was born. A place that has merged with its surroundings, a low impact place, unique and cozy design, simple and elegant, in total harmony with the environment.

After 7 years everything has changed: roads, connectivity and communications are easier, a key point that allowed us to host hundreds of guests looking for what Gaia can offer

 

Our Team

Our team includes young professionals in areas like conservation, engineering, marketing, wildlife expertise, among others. We have created a big impact in the local communities providing a way of living while preserving the forest, more tan 50% of our staff belongs to the Kichwa culture, all of them bilingual in their native language and Spanish. Important to mention is the work of volunteers that allows us to continue generating important ties working in close collaboration with the local community of Ahuano.

We are nature lovers like you, we love the atmosphere of simple things that accumulates experiences every day, empowering us to provide quality service in the middle of the Amazon jungle.
